Surah Al-Waqi’ah (Arabic: سورة الواقعة) derives its name from the word Al-Waqi’ah mentioned in the first verse, meaning "The Inevitable Event," "The Occurrence," or "The Resurrection." This Madani surah (though some scholars consider parts of it Makki ) contains 96 verses ( ayat ). It is famously known for its vivid depiction of the Last Day, the division of humanity into three categories, and its emphasis on the absolute power of Allah.
