The emergence of multi-protocol stress-testing tools has lowered the barrier for both legitimate load testing and malicious denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. This paper examines xspammer2 – a tool reportedly capable of generating high-volume requests across HTTP, SMTP, and XML-RPC endpoints. We analyze its operational mechanics, evaluate potential abuse scenarios, and propose layered defensive measures. Results indicate that while xspammer2 can be used for authorized resilience testing, its default configurations encourage abuse without rate-limiting awareness. xspammer2
