However, this visibility has come with a cost. Transgender individuals, particularly trans women of color, face disproportionately high rates of violence, discrimination in healthcare, and legislative attacks. Consequently, a significant portion of contemporary LGBTQ+ activism is currently focused on trans rights—fighting for access to gender-affirming care, legal recognition of gender markers, and protection from discrimination.
