The fluorescent lights of the supermarket aisle hummed a low, headache-inducing B-flat. James stood paralyzed in front of the cracker section, his hand hovering between a box of honey graham crackers and a beige box labeled “Nature’s Yield: Ancient Grain Grahams.”
