ALS is a clinical diagnosis. There is no single test (blood work, MRI, or EMG) that can definitively confirm ALS on its own. Scans like MRI or CT are primarily used to rule out other conditions that mimic ALS – such as spinal cord compression, multiple sclerosis, or tumors.
