Meanwhile, Dr. John Sturgis invites Connie (Meemaw) to join him for dinner at his home. The evening takes an unexpected turn when he reveals he has invited another former student to join them. This student is Eric (played by Ian Wolf) .
Eric is a former prodigy who worked with Sturgis years ago. Now an adult, Eric is brilliant but socially dysfunctional, unemployed, and living a life of isolation.
