As of mid-2026, Matara Badu is reportedly finishing her debut EP, tentatively titled “Rootwork” . The project is said to be produced in collaboration with a collective of female-identifying sound engineers and will feature a fusion of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, slowcore folk, and spoken word.
