Born in Dunkirk, New York, Anthony grew up in a family of modest means. Her father was a salesman, and the family moved frequently during her childhood. Anthony graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1947 and went on to attend the University of Buffalo, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1951. She later earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University at Buffalo Law School in 1955.

Myra Quinn Anthony passed away on January 20, 2018, at the age of 88. Her legacy as a pioneering female politician and advocate for women's rights continues to inspire future generations.
