Months later. Vikram, now a regular at the parlor (he knits sweaters for the dog), is on a video call with his sister in Chennai. Behind him, a Pride flag. He winks at Karthik and says: “Tell Amma I’m staying another month. Sam is teaching me how to make dosa with almond milk.”

One morning, Vikram receives a legal letter. Karthik has listed him as an emergency contact after a minor motorcycle accident. Furious but secretly terrified, Vikram boards a flight to San Francisco, determined to finally confront his son and “bring him back to his senses.”
