Through case studies of films like Apur Panchali (Suman Ghosh), Nagarkirtan (Kaushik Ganguly), and Asamapta (Atanu Ghosh), the paper analyzes how these filmmakers have carved a "middle cinema"—one that retains the intellectual rigor of the parallel movement while adopting the narrative pacing required for the modern multiplex audience.
