Anno 1404 Efficient Building: Layouts

You start with a single ship and a coastal settlement. A few hours later, you are managing a sprawling network of islands, balancing the needs of Patricians and Noblemen against a backdrop of limited fertility and tight budgets. The difference between a struggling economy and a gold-generating powerhouse often comes down to one thing:

For weeks, his layout was chaos. The fishmongers were too far from the harbor, so the catch rotted. The charcoal burners smoked out the weavers’ looms, turning linen grey. And the great ox-drawn waterwheel sat on the river’s slow bend, its buckets lifting half the water of a faster eddy fifty yards upstream. Alaric’s workers spent more time walking between misplaced buildings than actually building.

You do not need a Marketplace for every Noble house. You can often use a previously built Patrician Marketplace to service the outer edges of Noble houses, doubling up on service radiuses.
