Important Note: The AP-515 is a campus AP that requires a controller (Aruba Mobility Controller, Aruba Central, or Instant mode). The upgrade method depends on how it is deployed.

Check label: If your AP model is AP-515 (not IAP-515), it may still run Instant if flashed with Instant firmware.
Step 2: Find the Correct Firmware File Go to the Aruba Support Portal (support.hpe.com) – login required (ASP or HPE account). aruba 515 firmware
Search for “AP-515” . Navigate to Downloads > Firmware . Choose your deployment:
Instant: Look for ArubaInstant_Taurus – e.g., ArubaInstant_Taurus_8.12.0.1_87736 Controller: Look for ArubaOS_Taurus – e.g., ArubaOS_Taurus_8.12.0.1_87736
Filename note: “Taurus” is the internal codename for AP‑515 series. Important Note: The AP-515 is a campus AP
Recommended stable versions: 8.10.x.x (LTS) or 8.12.x.x (latest stable).
Step 3: Upgrade the Aruba 515 Option A: Instant Mode (No controller) Via Web UI:
Connect to the IAP’s IP address (https:// ). Go to Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade . Select Upgrade from local file or Upgrade from URL (HTTP/TFTP server). Upload the ArubaInstant_Taurus_*.bin file. Click Upgrade – AP will reboot. Step 2: Find the Correct Firmware File Go
