(German for "Young and Free") was a prominent weekly youth magazine published in West Germany from the early 1950s until its closure in 1984. It occupied a unique and influential space in the post-war media landscape, standing apart from both the politically engaged press and the burgeoning commercial teen magazines of its era.
Founded in 1951 by the German entrepreneur and publisher , Jung und Frei was based in Stuttgart. From its inception, the magazine was closely aligned with the German Party (DP – Deutsche Partei) , a conservative, national-liberal party with strong regional roots in Lower Saxony.
