The story follows Dr. Vaseegaran (Rajinikanth), a brilliant scientist who creates a sophisticated android robot named Chitti (also Rajinikanth) to help the military. However, things go awry when the robot is rejected by the scientific council due to its lack of human emotions. In an attempt to "fix" him, Vaseegaran adds a human emotion module, inadvertently causing Chitti to fall in love with Vaseegaran’s girlfriend, Sana (Aishwarya Rai). What follows is a tale of jealousy, rejection, and a terrifyingly powerful rogue AI.
