The episode opens with an alarm clock buzzing at 5:30 AM. Kaito is already awake, staring at the ceiling. He has dark circles under his eyes. He quietly gets up, careful not to wake Hina, who is curled up in the corner of the futon clutching a stuffed rabbit.

One month has passed since Kaito turned 18 and was thrust into the role of guardian for his younger sister, Hina (age 6). Episode 2 picks up on a rainy Monday morning, moving away from the shock of the first episode and into the crushing reality of daily survival.
