Here’s a quick, clear guide for adding a website to your Windows taskbar (the bar at the bottom of your screen). For Windows 10 & 11 (using Microsoft Edge) This is the most reliable method because Edge lets you pin sites directly.

Open Microsoft Edge and go to the website you want. Click the three dots (...) in the top-right corner. Go to More tools → Pin to taskbar . A window will pop up asking you to name the shortcut. Type a name (e.g., "Gmail" or "YouTube"). Click Pin . how do i add a website to my taskbar

That’s it. The site’s icon will now live on your taskbar and open in Edge when clicked. For Windows 10 & 11 (using Google Chrome) Chrome doesn’t have a direct “Pin to taskbar” button, but here’s the workaround:

Open Chrome and go to the website. Click the three dots (...) → Save and share → Create shortcut... Name the shortcut and check Open as window (optional but cleaner). Click Create . This puts a shortcut on your desktop. On your desktop, right-click the new shortcut → Show more options → Pin to taskbar . You can now delete the desktop shortcut if you want—the taskbar one stays.

For Windows 11 Only (any browser) A new, slightly hidden trick in Windows 11: Using Google Chrome * Open the Chrome Menu:

Open the website in any browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.). Drag the padlock icon (to the left of the website address) down to your taskbar. Let go when you see a "Pin to taskbar" tooltip appear.

The site will always open in your default browser , not necessarily the one you used to pin it. Some websites might show a generic browser icon instead of their logo—that’s normal but can’t be easily changed. This works for any website , not just search engines or email.
