PEP 594 was fully enacted in this cycle. Many legacy, obsolete, and unmaintained standard library modules (affectionately known as "dead batteries") have been removed. If your legacy code relies on modules like cgi , audioop , or telnetlib , you will need to install external replacements from PyPI. python 3.13.1 release december 2025
